Social Emotional Learning
The Government Is Stepping In
Mental Health In Schools Act (H.R. 628) public schools are mandated to develop a Comprehensive School Mental Health Program (CSMHP).

What is Social Emotional Learning (SEL)?
Through the federal Mental Health In Schools Act (H.R. 628) public schools are mandated to develop a Comprehensive School Mental Health Program (CSMHP). A major component of many progressive CSMHP’s is Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
SEL is based upon best practices of engaging students in Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision-Making, and Relationship Skills. Emphasis is placed upon learning these skills via an embedded curriculum as opposed to stand alone programming. SEL suggests a set of standards for CASEL-endorsed programming.
The Tommi Project curriculum closely aligns with CASEL-endorsed SEL programming.
